I just added up my fabric receipts for the last year, and it came to just over $708. Considering that I had a very sizeable stash before that, and that we're getting to the point that I may need to remove furniture from my office to accomodate the hoard, I think I will try to halve that this year. Jeez, there's probably over 10 grand in fabric and machines and furniture down there. I may need to toddle off to the insurance agents soon!

    Needed a laugh tonight.

You could have added - but it has just GRADUALLY built up over the past 5 years - so only a little per month and the sales come quicker than I can sew - and I only buy when it is on sale so it really is a saving.

    Huummmm.....doesn't work for me either!

Yikes! I hear ya sister! And feel your turmoil...I too had to 'come clean' in my presentation to DH about my business dream- the cost of all of it---fabrics, notions, longarm quilting services and even the retreats! But, it got me what I have now- an awesome new business- a longarm quilting studio and retreat! Moonlight Stitching Studio & Sisters Retreat

I am so lucky hat DH is ok with what I spend on fabric and he wasn't surprised when I read your post. I haven't tallied up what I have but it fills a room!

No sig other here either, although I dreamed last night that I married my widower neighbor. Don't have to confess to him. I couldn't even guess at fabric worth, I know I have well over $20,000 in machines alone.

It's a very funny story but one with a message, how many of you have thought about your quilting tools, machines n stash when renewing your Home Contents Insurance :-o

I very nearly had a nasty accident with my Elna, cost with extras approx. £1000/$1500 and there is no way that I could find the money to replace it so I added, at a nominal cost Accidental Insurance coverage on my Home Content.

I had a long chat with my Insurance to make sure my stash/tools/machines were covered, even to the extent of having them covered whilst being moved for classes, so at least I now have an easier mind that way.

Cost of quilting since I started Jan 2005 over £7000/$1100 enjoyment invaluable and no Insurance will cover that. :-P

So my husband and I are currently getting quotes on home insurance. While on the phone with the agent, I learned our previous policy, which DH got without me really paying attention to the itemizations, had my all of my quilting fabric listed as approx. $100 value. DH turned to me and said, "Well this policy is about 5 years old, and I know you've bought more since then. What would you say it's at now, $200? $250?" I just looked at him blankly while my mind raced...tell him the TRUTH? Egads!?!?! I mean, I am normally all for 100% honesty in a relationship, but this is surely an exception to that rule?

It pained me, it really did, but since this is for insurance purposes and I know it will just come back to somehow bite me in the butt if I don't tell the honest amount (i.e. flood in basement where fabric is, fire, etc...) I told him "try closer to $2,000-$3,000 and that's being conservative." He and the agent (male/non-quilter obviously) were speechless. Now I have to send him pictures and any receipts I may still have to prove it, LOL.

Just thought I'd share that funny story with you all....so how much would your sig. other say your stash is worth? What's the "real" $ amount? :)
