Cutting & Sewing Tables in center or against wall?

I would definitely have the cutting area in the middle. If anyone is worried about tripping over cords the machine could be set up with the right end against the wall giving you freedom of space on the sitting side & where your fabric is feeding to. Then you could put the ironing area behind you so you could just swivel around to it.

i like my cutting table in the middle , so i can get to more that one side of it , but i like my sewing table to be up against a wall so when i am quilting a large quilt it doesnt hang off the table and get some drag in it

My sewing room is so tiny that when my cutting table is opened out full size, there is barely room for me to fit! It has become wall to wall sewing equipment! I have to keep moving and organizing. But I am thankful that I now have a separate room for sewing; when all the children were living at home, it used to be our bedroom! However my dream if space provided, would be to have it in the middle, reachable from all sides.

Since my room is barely 10' x 11' and I cannot spread anything to any other room or closet.... this is what I did. I bought the Horn 36" high #5580 40" x 60" sewing table. I keep the right side up against a blowmold 4' table which is flush against the wall under a window. Then I've got the left hand side of the table (leaf open so it's 40" deep) with a huge cut mat and a smaller cutting mat sitting behind the machine. I can cut from 3 sides, sew something fairly big with it all on the table, and iron on a 'blanket board' off the back side. I piece in runs, iron in batches... so I get some movement. I 'could' wheel one of the storage carts around to my left side while sewing... but I haven't yet done so.

Kwendt, you have made good use of the space you have. I think the room I will end up with is about the same size so thank you for posting your picture.
Featherweight, what size is your room? It looks great! Also what are the patterns for both your avatar quilt and also the nice colorful one on the wall. They are beautiful!
