Washcloth Slippers for Nursing Homes

I remember makeing these washcloth slippers in Bible School back in the late 1950's. One of my favorite memories. Have made a few pair since. Great project for children's sewing class. Thanks for the "flash-back".

Thanks for the demo, I think I will suggest that my guild members each make a pair at our next retreat and we can gift them to local nursing homes. We'll have to be sure they can stand up to the rigors of lots of washings, too.

We made these in a summer bible school class back in the 50's. Not sure, but this project may have been the start of my love to sew. You never know what an insperation a small project like this can be to a childs life. Been sewing ever since.

I think they're very cute, but I DO recommend you contact the nursing home before you take a bunch in. The nurshing home I worked in wouldn't allow slippers without a grippy type bottom. It's too easy for our seniors to fall with just plain washcloth bottoms. You can get some stuff to sewon the bottom to make them "grip". Just a suggestion.
