i am in love with this quilt and agree with others that the raw edge applique will provide character to this quilt.

If it's going to be used and laundered frequently, there will be fraying. No way around it if you do raw edge. But, if it were me I'd thread paint them and do raw edge-but not with invisible thread. I'd use either cotton or embroidery(rayon, poly) to match the leaf colors. I'm not a fan of invisible thread at all. Especially when it's against my skin.

Lovely looking piece of work! Stunning even without the centre piece! I think satin stitch for a solid looking finish but if you are looking for a 'wispy' like look then raw edge applique or blanket stitch for a more informal look. I can't choose because there are so many possibilities! What is your preference? Perhaps go with that.

I used to satin stitch my appliques when using a machine but the last few years I've switched to a narrower and more open zig zag stitch. I think it looks better than a satin stitch. I will still satin stitch with varying widths for accents such as the stem and veins in the leaves but still love the look of the more open zig zag stitch for the edges.
You might try a sample on waste cloth with several stitches and see which one looks the best!

satin stitch, blanket stitch, another decorative stitch or
would you do a raw edge applique?

I can't decide.

Not sure yet what will be going in the center block.
Have multiple ideas but haven't decided definitely which I like best.... :?:

Measures approx. 54x80
I hope you do a wreath of leaves in the center block :)

If the quilt will be laundered frequently, I would go with a satin stitch. If you are careful and go slowly, the points are not that difficult. Otherwise, I would use whatever method appeals to you most. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Hard hard decision. Like an earlier member said satin stitch would be nice but would be hard because of all the points. How do you like the blanket stitch? That's a little easier...........
