Use knee pads if you have any - or one of those kneeling pads you use for gardening. You have a nice floor to work on!

Ha Ha I use to do the same thing and cut on the floor when I was young. But at 66 I cannot get up off the floor so easy ha ha Now I use my dining room table. Much easier....

I think I would clear off the kitchen counter to cut! I have used the counter before to put my machine on & sew when I couldn't stand to sit because of my back.

Where there is a will there is a way. Very inventiive, but backbreaking. Hope you replace one or the other soon. What about cutting on your dresser top?
