Cheaper by the Dozen is a great, easy, pattern that looks great. It takes 12 fat quarters and goes together quickly.

if she truly wants white then look for the white on white fabrics. they will have some pattern to give definitation. Many years ago there was a quilter who ony worked with muslin. They were betutiful.

I just saw a log cabin recently (can't remember where) but they used very pale shades on tans and beige for the dark side. The light side was different whites.

Whole cloth quilt was what came to me when I read your posting something like a polished cotton that would have a bit of sheen to it. I like the idea of a pale thread for quilting
