Haven't made my star block yet. I am going back and forth trying to decide if I want the original star or spice it up with 4 patch corners etc. Going to make it today. Violet

Instead of plain 4" corner blocks, make your 4" corners of 4-2" blocks for a 4-patch corner block.

Go to 2011 BOM #2 STARS--PICTURES and on page 1, Judy has posted a picture (1/2 way down page) using half square triangles instead of the plain corner blocks. On page 2, Jerry has shown a three-color block using 1/2 square triangles in a different way, giving, I think, an entirely different look to the block.

Combinations of all 3 ideas could be used together in a quilt.

OK I am making the friendship stars. I have decided to make a childs quilt. The stars are fussy cut with circus theme print and I will make nine patchs for alternate blocks. I have a stash that reaches to the sky and need to use it up. "that is my New Years's resolution" Let's see how long I stick to it.
