They're wonderful machines! Once you sew on one of them, you're hooked....at least I was.
I just bought a Singer 15 91 about a month ago, and for FM quilting, I find it's very forgiving. It also has a large plate area. I'm hooked.

How much do these machines cost? It looks like the right size to take to a quilting class.

I got one of those, my Grandma's. However her's is all messed up. She really used the crap out of it, the decals are mostly gone and it's a mess, but I can't part with it. I did chuck the cabinet though cause she repainted it and cut the legs down a little (she was really really short).

Congratulations on your find. Enjoy and I hope you have many years of sewing pleasure with her.

Cathy big congrats!!! she sure is pretty. A few months back a member on this board posted the machine I have been wanting, she found it at a thrift store, even posted pics and offered to help me get it.....I am still kicking myself for not getting it. So glad you jumped on your new machine.

You wouldn't want to take THIS machine to sewing class    I think it weighs 100 lbs!!!! I know that it weighs way more than the cabinet it comes in. I carried the SM head and cabinet into the house separately and WHOA baby....she's a heavyweight! I'm used to carrying 50lb bags of chicken grain but at least I can sling them over my shoulder. I wasn't quite sure how to grip my 'new' 201, to carry it, because I didn't want to destroy the light which is in the middle of the arm.

If you want a really nice machine to take to sewing class I think the Singer 301's are wonderful. They are cheaper than the Featherweights and I love the way they sew.
