Have a real challenge: have until April 30th to make a double size quilt - using my own design. ( Rather 'modern/abstract' - mostly hollow squares & triangles. )
Since the new bride & groom will be living in Birmingham, Ala. - this won't be a traditional "New England puffy" one. Found bolts of handsome - high quality suede cloth for 1/2 price - in the colors needed for front/back & pillow/body designs.
Here's my dilemma: the design has TONS of sharply angled corners. Never having worked with suede cloth before - do you have any pointers for me? Am also looking for tips on cutting out the design - to allow the fabric to 'lay' in one direction throughout.
Any suggestions??

no ideas but there will be a nap to fabric may be mark the back with arrows but would need to be on each piece wow that would be a lot of work good luck

I would definitely iron some fusible interfacing to the back before cutting the pieces (and leave it in while sewing). It should stabilize the edges for you. I've worked with suede cloth & it can be tricky.

Wow this is going to be a challenge! Is all the fabric used going to be suede cloth? I'm wondering about the bulk at the seams. Might want to press them open? As far as the direction of the nap is concerned, you need to lay your paper pattern or templates out and mark an arrow on each one indicating how you want the nap to run. You might want to make a practice block or two. You can actually use the nap running in different directions to your advantage. It will look like you used different shades of the same color, adding interest to the block.

I've never worked with suede before, but I'm wondering if you'd have better luck if you paper pieced it???
