I like the "blocks" border (as you can see in my avatar, I used a block border in the bottom and top borders to make this quilt longer). So, the slim dark purple border, then the block border and then a wide purple border would look good in my opinion. And the binding in that same purple. Beautiful quilt whatever you decide to do.

Love your design, have been following your other posts of this quilt and am liking it better and better. I think your choice of the dark border is perfect, a few people have said not to use the pieced border and I tend to agree with them. I'm sorry I can't remember if you used precut squares to start with, if not do you have enough of the teal fabric left to do a second border. Don't forget to post final pictures please.

I find the dark purple too dark for right next to the quilt. It seems harsh to my eye. I would have liked a softer color that is perhaps the darkest tone actually in the quilt, then the pieced border, which I do like very much. After that, I'd add the very dark purple border and bind in the same color.

Me too! I know the body of the quilt is busy but I really like that purple batik as a smaller border and binding with the leftover fabrics inbetween. For my eye it just seems to make the design standout and be "complete". Not sure what I mean by that exactly but I like what you have shown in the photo.

I like your idea of the blocks.

Thanks for all the thoughts and ideas. I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive that I ordered over the weekend. Once it's here, I'll try and make a decision. You all are great and I appreciate all the comments.

Finally finished the top! I tried and tried to like this quilt with the purple border (which was the fabric recommended at my LQS when I took the top there looking for border fabric), but I just wasn't happy with it. I actually added a blue wider border to the outside which helped, but I was still dissatisfied. So off to my small stash I went and found the aquamarine batik. I took off the purple, added the aquamarine and then the strip border of all the fabrics used in the pattern. Now I'm happy! Of course, next I have to decide what to use for the backing. Decisions, decisions! But that is the fun of it, right?
