Perhaps a grey or grey tone on tone might work. I did an Alabama Table topper which is red and white and I put a medium/dark grey (with a black marble print scattered throughout it) as a trim piece. It turned out great.

I'd probably go towards a light brown or tan set set off both colors & make them stand out.
