I quilt my own. It's my favourite part of the process.

If it's small enough, I will either tie it or quilt it on the machine, but the bigger stuff I send out.

What kind of gracie frame? Is it made for a long arm? How do you use your regular machine with the frame. I am so wanting to quilt my own that I am looking for the best way to do so. I've taken an initial machine quilting class and now need to practice, practice...but my machine does not have any stitch regulator so it sometimes gets away from me. Wondering if a frame of some sort would help. Thanks

Do my own, I love the creativity and the learning process and that the whole quilt is made by me.

I love sending them out. It keeps the stress level down. I especially hate marking for handquilting. I use a POUNCE but it is still work.

I hand quilt all of my quilts. I want to start FMQ but my family really likes hand quilting better & complains when I say I want to machine quilt. I actually enjoy having the warmth on my lap while watching mindless TV. It works for me! :-)

I work on 3 or 4 quilts at a time. Each in stages of progress. From the time I see the fabric my mind goes into overload for a particular pattern, size, etc. I enjoy each step. My first quilt top I finished was one I received that my grandmother finished in the 1960s. I finished it last year & had it shown in our local newspaper. It was called "Grandmother's Garden". I call it, "The Fabric of My Life". It wasn't finished on 2 edges & I left it as it was. OHHH the memories of her & the tears I shed in love. As a child I watched her as she patiently pieced. That's how I learned to quilt. I truly enjoy seeing the finished quilts hanging on one of my quilt ladders my husband made for me.
Have a wonderful tomorrow.
