I like my chili sweet.

Saute 1 onion in large skillet
Add 1 pound hamb cook to loose meat
Add 3 cans chili beans with sauce
Add 1/4 c or more ketchup
Add one can(chili can) water
If you like diced tomatoes add them in also
You can use tomato juice in place of water if you like.

Let it cook on simmer until it is blended well. My DH likes it thick so if you prefer it with more juice just add more ketchup/water or tomatoe juice if you prefer.

We don't add the water if we are going to use it for chili dogs. The thicker the better then.

My broker at the time told me about using canned kidney beans and baked beans along with sauted grd meat (either turkey or beef), onions and peppers. Actually turns out quite nice.

This is our favorite. CHILI and BEANS

1 lb dry pink beans
1/3 lb salt pork
1/4 tsp oregano
cover beans with water, bring to boil, add sliced salt pork and oregano.
Simmer until beans are tender, about 3 hours
OR USE A COUPLE OF CANS OF CHILI BEANS
.............................
2 lbs stewing beef and 1 lb pork (chops will do) cut meat in cubes and brown.
Add 4T chili powder to browned meat.
chop 1 onion and 4 cloves garlic, add to meat
1 lg can solid pack tomatoes, put in blender and chop slightly and add to meat. I just use a quart of canned tomatoes.

Add to meat and tomatoes...
1 T oregano(3T if using fresh),
1 tsp cumin (AT LEAST. I love cumin and probably overdo it),
salt to taste,
2 bay leaves

Simmer until meat is tender, at least 2 hours. Remove bay leaves.
Drain beans or add the canned chili beans and add chili sauce, mix together and serve.
enjoy
