Mostly I'm a finisher but occasionally I have a couple of projects on the go at the same time

I too have always finished one project before starting another. But now I keep three projects going. One is my machine project. The second is my hand quilting that I do with my husband when he is home from work. We have a frame set up by our picture window where we can watch the cars go by as we quilt and chat. And my third is my hand embroidery project that I carry with me when I know I might have to sit somewhere and wait for awhile. My husband is a paramedic. He takes embroidery to work to help fill in time.

Being a "one at a time quilter" takes the fun and relaxation from quilting. Quilting becomes a chore, not a hobby. How can you create if you must stick with one project until it is completely finished. I would get tired of a quilt before it is finished. Work on one quilt then on another to give yourself a break. ahhhh..I would have to confess that I have four quilts in progress. I work on one until I get tired of looking at the colors then put it away for another day. Look for something a little different to work on, then put it away too. I'm really trying to finish up my WIP so I can justify buying more fabric. I swore I wouldn't do this when I first started quilting. But, hey, when you find a great sale, you HAVE to stock up, right? I find myself buying charm packs on clearance lately for about half price. Then, I have to find the yardage for the sashing, borders and bindings. It's a never ending thing, I guess. I feel guilty sometimes, but not for long enough to stop me from doing it. I'm like so many others of you. I love the feel and sight of gorgeous fabric.

I have to say I most often have several going on at the same time. I'm always planning ahead!
