i have seen many quilts where the thread wore out before the fabric. there are places to buy good quality thread at reasonable prices

It really depends on how yards per spool you are getting. But so far the best i got was Connectingthreads.com, and one one i was told about today but haven't tried yet is threadart.com but i've seen their prices (really good) and they have excellent thread for embroidery too.

Good luck

It NEVER pays to buy cheap thread. Always buy 100% cotton thread when you're piecing cotton fabric. I prefer Guttermann thread, but usually can find it on sale for half price at Hancock's. It's regularly over $8 a spool.

I only use connecting threads thread. It is well worth the money. I have all the sets and then lately bought all the newest sets and ended up with extras which I am happy for. I dont think I could trust $1.00 a yard. Is it a good brand? Good luck!

Just check the quality before you check the price, is my philosophy. It will pay - off in the end, Decent thread doesn't cost any less than $8 here, and around $20 for the bigger spools. I check out the charity shops first and am sometimes lucky.Occasionally we get $1 sales for the cheap polyester stuff that is OK to use in some projects.

Wow. I bought 2 spools yesterday and they were just over $12. I thought that was expensive. I usually buy from Connecting Threads, but I needed them NOW.

I just paid $11.00 for a large spool of Aurfil. Yikes! $1.00 is a real bargain in my world. You go girl!

A dollar a spool is truly "cheap" thread...money-wise and quality-wise. After putting hours into a quilt, not to mention the quality fabrics, I am going to also use quality thread.

Cheap thread is also a very bad diet for your sewing machine. it is fuzzy, short fibers that get caught in the tension disks and create lots of fuzz in the bobbin area...not good at all for machines.
