If You Had $2000.00, What Machine Would You Buy?

[quote=akrogirl]Based on my experiences with just about every make out there, I would go for a Pfaff with IDT.
I love my Pfaff 2140/2170. The IDT does make a difference. I love to sew with it. It has a 4x4 and 5x7 field. Also you can get the Endless Hoop and the Grand Hoop. The connection to the machine is a direct usb connection, which makes transferring designs very easy.

I think I would buy a Pfaff with the IDT(built in walking foot), one less thing to buy and all of your quilt blocks come out better as all the layers feed evenly. Test drive lots of machines with your thread, fabrics and batting.
I have had 5 different Berninas, all wonderful machines; still have 2 of them(1031 & 930). 2 Pfaffs with IDT, the 1222E and 2040. One Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 875 has
the large 10" throat and a ton of fancy stitches, makes great buttonholes, I like this machine for quilting.
Many antique and vintage Singers, mostly straight stitch.

I personally like the Janome. I had the 9700 (loved it) upgraded to 11000. Have the Horizon and 3160. My suggestion is to get a machine where it can be serviced and receive help when needed. Where I purshcased mine - they service and very willing to help when needed and give free one on one and/or free classes

nearest dealer is 1 hour away -i looked around , read online, read consumer reports. Realized that i needed to know that it could be serviced without having to ship it or leave it for weeks- so bought at the local (1 hour away) dealer. Have been very happy with my babylock.

As of this morning, Babylock finally has their new Serenade up on their website. I have a Pfaff 7570 that I love, but the Serenade comes the closest to being like the 7570. Hmmm, something for me to think about, since it has the 2 things my 7570 doesn't have, auto thread cutter, and knee lift. And it has the IDF like the Pfaff.
