Boy, does that make me feel old. Graduated from high school and we finally got tv in our town. To the girl that ask about disposable diapers = absolutely not. No disposables and no teflon pans at that time. Houses were more like 4 to 6 thousand in this neck of the woods and cars were 2 to 3 thousand. $10.00 bought a weeks groceries for two. The average man around here made about 300 a month in those days. Women made less unless they worked for the government. If you wanted to be a nurse, you had to be unmarried and go live in the nurses housing and became a hospital unpaid slave to earn your diploma. Woman were only allowed to serve on juries in about 1954.

Great year! My hubby was born July 4, 1956 and I was born on July 16, 1956. Gee I can only call him an old man for 12 days.
