I have my grandmothers old thimble and love it. It is small and has very deep indentations so it works great. I would be sick if I lost it.

Any suggestions for a really good finger tip cover that fits well, protects my finger when hand sewing the bindings on quilts?

Thanks.

I like the jelly ones, because they seem comfortable
and don't hurt my fingers. The needle does work thru
them at some point, but they are cheap enough to
buy.

I like the clover thimbles that are open for your nails, they can be adjusted to fit and I have worn a hole in one I used to so long. I also treated myself to a Roxanne fitted thimble. Love them both.
Fingers don't sweat in the open sided ones and they do protect your nails.

I think they're awkward but I keep trying to find one that fits nice and snug.

Leather thimbles are the only ones that fit my stubby fingers. (Thanks dad!) I have always secretly coveted those long tapering fingers I see around me. You can do the hot water trick on them, to make them fit you better.

I have a leather one. It has a stretchy part attached to the leather and will fit any finger I want. I really love it as I have very small fingers. My ring size is 5

I've tried several types of thimbles and just can't get used to using them. I don't use a thimble at all when I do bindings ( sometimes my finger looks like a pin cushion! )
