I feel chastized because topics keep getting moved and merged (especially when they have nothing to do with each other). Now topics that clearly fell under the General Chit-Chat were moved to Personal Diaries sections and I guess because I posted them merged while they had nothing to do with each other.
I know the moderators are volunteers so everytime I get one of those little notices I feel guilty... Heck when you go to the main page the Personal Diaries didn't/doesn't even show up - is it new?
Is there something out there that says nope you have to post here? The description shows general chit chat is anything else not quilt related....the other day I posted under main for suggestions and it was moved to pictures....
Just trying to understand

I have disagreed with the way this section is handled, too. When topics go to the diaries, unless you have a close relationship (friends/families) it seems they disappear and nothing else is much said. I still don't understand why some things aren't left in chit-chat -- after all, to me the chit-chat section is like sitting in our living rooms and talking about anything -- happy, sad, personal, not so personal. I wish the mods would change the way it's handled, too.

some of my posts have been moved too. but, I still get posts to them. as long as they are active, people can read your post.
try tracking them on "My Topics" just under Logout.
Good luck !

I'm a bit frustrated too. I've posted things that got sent to my PDA (which I never started by the way)
I don't know why they do it.
I thought a PDA was a choice but I guess not.

I can only speak for myself but when I feel a post is something you'd share with a friend, not someone you'd meet on the street I move it to PDA.
details of illnesses or tragic events I feel are not for the general public.
like someone said we are volunteers and try to do things the way admin. wants it done, he's the one who chose us, (even tho he's not here anymore)
if you have a problem with a topic moving or deletion or whatever you can discuss it with the one who moved it and find out why or plead your case or whatever, it's not carved in stone and can be changed,
we're not trying to throw our weight(buttons) around. ;)

Well I know I'm cranky and only on my first cup of coffee (yes I got up late) but I was in general chit chat and see topics that belong in other sub categories....
I think I a more frustrated at the merged topic because people don't always quote when they reply - which can be good if the oriignal post was long - so I'm trying to read and catch up and can't figure out what people are talking about or replying to....
Sorry I have 5 kids and have many antidotes and issues I can tattle tale on them about!

Probably a good idea to read the rules post of each section that gives guideline on what each area is for.
PDA is for announcements in your personal life, like a surgery, venting about something that happened etc.
Here is a link to the rules posting on PDA
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-22099-1.htm
General chit chat also has a rules posting but here is a cut and paste of the general guidelines out of that rules posting. The rules are always locked bolded topics at the very top of each section. Below is the quote:
Here are some examples of personal topics that are OK in GCC:
- Pictures of your family, pets, vacation trips, far-away places, etc.
- Links to the wacky and way out things you've run across.
- Seeking advice not related to quilting (example: buying a new camera, do pythons make good pets? how many pecks would a woodchuck pick if a woodchuck could pick pecks?)
- Positive or neutral events in your life or your surroundings that you feel would be of interest to others.
- Positive or neutral announcements, such as birthdays, weddings, etc.
- Consumer alerts that have been confirmed but aren't yet widely publicized.
- Clean jokes.
- Major events occurring "right now".
- Non-quilting group activities (Mare Stare and Word Association Game come to mind).
The above list is not all-inclusive, but only serves to illustrate the "spirit" of this section.

I also feel like personal diaries section is something that I would post to like a blog - general chit chat is just that anything but the kitchen sink that I want to lament about.
I don't get it but I am only on cup of coffee #2

AND..... I and a few others are at work while trying to moderate and like 5 kids, it's hard to keep up with everything.
AND.... I don't know how to merge topics but have seen some that I would have if I could.
also, I'm guilty of not reading the whole post, if I open and see pictures.... I move it to pictures
