It has probably been 50 years or so since I did Chicken Scratch and I sure didnt do anything this magnificent. I think. since I enjoy handwork so much, I will have to find this pattern and get it started. I'm thinking pastels for a baby quilt. OOOOh I am excited...thanks for sharing your beautiful work.

I too remember doing this way back when, only it was more like a simple cross stitch on gingham. Between the horizontal rows we pulled the threads and them tied the vertical threads in little bundles - boy, I bet I totally blew this explanation - it was pretty though. This does in deed bring back some good memories.

I've made chicken scratch pillows a long time ago, but never a quilt. My mother had a book with different animals in it. I have a horse block she did.

Your chicken scratch is beautiful! You are brave to make a quilt. What alot of work. I know how to chicken scratch and I know the time you put into it.

Love it! I did a bunch of tableclothes using this method. Most I game away but I kept the blue one for myself...I keep it in my picnic basket.

I did it about 40 years ago on a kitchen set, but have never thought about doing it on a quilt. Beautiful.
