I suppose that technically I could say I've been quilting for at least 30 yrs - I bought my first sewing machine when I was 19 a wonderful top of the range (then) Husqvarna 2000. With it I made many gifts including a quilted purse for one of my sisters.

Since then I spent most of my sewing time making lovely boys clothes for my 3 sons from Dutch magazines - because they had THE BEST childrens clothing patterns.

It is in the past 10 yrs or so that I reconnected with the joy of patchwork and quilting.

After spending an hour or so on the border of a 5yr old WIP for my mother I now find that my left arm is so very sore, tender and inhibited that my night at work was most unpleasant. I think I may have pushed things too far.

Any suggestions for a cure for this type of injury????

Hello, I live about 25 miles south of Newcastle, England though and about 70 miles north of Barnsley, its strange to see familiar place names in the US and Australia, but not unexpected I suppose due to our countries history.
You will enjoy being part of this friendly board.

Hi Teresa. So glad to have you with us. Cannot wait to see your quilts.

About your injury--a muscle relaxer, a hot compress, maybe a glass of wine?? Let it rest for a few days and see if you feel better. If not, you may have done some serious damage and need to see your doctor. Just exactly how big is that quilt you were wrestling that it caused this injury???

Hi, youme! Welcome! I just found a 1990 edition of Patchwork Quilt on eBay. I love the Japanese quilts depicted in the magazine. I'm fairly new to quilting. However, since I don't know the language, I'll have to go by the pictures. The quilt I fell in love with has weeping cherry blossoms appliqued over little squares. Someday, I hope to try it. There is also another quilt in the magazine, wherein an Hawaiian moo-moo is used. I have my deceased mother's moo-moo, which was a gift from my sister to my mother. Since my sister is ailing, I would like to try that quilt as well . . . so many ideas. Have a great day!

Welcome from Maine. Don't worry no matter how many years I've been quilting...There are still things to learn.
