Thanks everyone for your nice comments and support! My friend is thrilled to be getting it, and I can't think of a better way to part with it....although it does tug a little at my heart....

I didn't use a pattern. The block is 6.5 inch square and is called Whirling Geese. Basically 4 2X4 flying geese around a 2 inch center block (practice set-in seams!). I basically made the rest of the quilt up around the block....
