Hi, I am new to quilting and it is a cloudy day. This morning will be good for planning a quilt but I still have my Easter blouse to finnish and some family things to do and a Dr. appointment. By this afternoon, I will work on my Sunset Sunflower quilt. The pattern is by a local artist and very fine lady named Laura Estes. If you have time to go to one of her trunk shows or sessions, please do so. You will enjoy her quiet spirit. She knows how to encourage new quilters and seasoned artists. She inspires creativity.
I found this site looking for how much much people spend to make a quilt. My next one is a "prayer shawl" but I didn't buy the book or the featured fabric. I bought the fabrics off sale racks except for the panel of encouraging words which I got at "A Heart Like Yours." It is my closest quilting shop. I recently sold my horses and lost my best dog ever to cancer, so this is my new passion. Tips appreciated. I seem to have lots of fabric for projects I can't start until summer. Is this normal?

Welcom from coastal NC. So sorry about the loss of your animals. As you can see from my avatar, I am a dog lover. we lost one of ours a year ago to cancer - I still miss her terribly. As far as the quilting, you'll find lots of help on this board. And yes, there are lot of fabriholics here too, including me :) Good luck with your new passion - it is addicting, but in a good way. I call it my therapy.

A big welcome from East Texas. I am so sorry about the loss of your fur baby. You will love this board. I have been a member for less than a year, made a lot of friends and have learned so much. Happy quilting to you.
