I often use unbleached muslin for a backing, particularly if I'm doing traditional quilts. As others have observed, it's important that you use a good quality muslin though. Personally, I really like the look.

It's my favorite - reminds me of the old fashioned quilts Grandma used to make.

Yes, most of the time. However, I do wash all muslin since it will shrink. A good muslin from Jo Ann's brand, Roclon.

I don't want the back of my quilts plain. I seldom use a backing that matches or even has the same theme as the quilt top. I like the total different look of front to back. When I do use muslin for backings I always add some pieces of left over fabric or orphan blocks to jazz it up some.

Depends on the quilt but I love how it quilts up. So yes I do use muslin often.

Yes I use Muslin, especially if I want the quilting to show on the back side of the quilt too.

I also like bleached muslin - nice and white!

I carry 29 Extra wide backing fabrics in my online store at very reasonable prices.

I have not used it yet, but I will try it after having read everyone's comments here on the board regarding the look of the backing :D :D

Same here. I've never used anything BUT muslin, bleached and unbleached alike.
