I started my first quilt from left over fabric from my daughter's school clothes that i made for her. and she started school in 1964. but I didn't have awhole lot of time my DH was in the service at the time and I was home with six kids. i would do some sewing after they were in bed. then about the 1970's it got more serious and would buy fabric when ever i ha an extra dollar then in 1994 retired and it really got serious as I would hand quilt in the morning do patch work in the afternoon and do applique in the evening. all my first quilts were hand quilted.
Learning to do machine quilting now as I have Paarkinson's.

Started dress designing at around 12 years old and used quilting on collars, sleeves and bottoms of my dresses to make them stand out even fuller during the time of wearing crinolines. About 60+ years ago. As for making a real quilt, that started about25 years ago when the grands started coming along.

I have been quilting for 44 years. But a friend of mine started when she was 7 and I quilted with her yet when she was 94. She continued to embroider quilt blocks until her death at 97. Somehow I think she will be your longest quilter. Her daughter is now a quilter and a fabulous one at that.
