my choice would be 2inc red then a black scallop , i thick that would be stunning. But thats just my thinking.

Choosing between red or black thread, I think I would choose red, as long as it didn't run. Your simple pattern looks amazing with your choice of fabrics.

That is one beautiful quilt - I think the end result will look good whatever colour you use.
