His use of color is fantastic. A husband that shares your quilting passion has got to be a real joy. Lucky you!

You certainly can have him on the days he's not grocery shopping or cooking. LOL!!!! He does all of that too since he loves to cook! I'm pretty lucky all right!

How did your husband become active in quilting? Love his work, the colors are so happy and full of joy, they make a person feel
good, like sunshine!
Hi Susie,

Paul actually started quilting while I was on a business trip about 6-7 years ago. I was gone for almost a week and he was very bored so he went into my scrap bag and started putting pieces together (I think this is called crumming). I came home to find that he had run out of bobbin thread and he had no idea what to do! So from there I sat down with him and helped him learn.

His first attempt was this huge piece of crumbs that we later cut into blocks and sashed together. He named it "This and that". He was pretty satisfied with it so he just kept it up, but his favorite method is strings. He said you don't have to think too much.

Here's his first quilt. Not bad for somebody who didn't even know how to thread a machine. :)

Hi Linda, these are all 100% cottons. Some are batiks. They are all from my scraps.

Hi Phyl,

The diagonals are actually made using rectangle muslin foundation pieces. The strips are put down in opposite directions and that forms the diamond. I thought I had saved a tutorial we had done a few years ago, but I am not finding it--sorry. But as somebody else said, it's pretty simple and I am sure there are loads of tutes out there for you.

Hi,

We usually give them all away as gifts. Now people run when they see us coming. :)
