We have always had great success using Hydrogen Peroxide on blood. You will have to rub it some, but it usually works good and won't damage the fabric. But, what ever you do, don't dry it with the blood on it fabric or it won't ever come out. Good luck.

Liquid chlorox x2 stain remover and color booster on a q-tip should do the trick. Should be in every household. It's in a blue bottle. glenda

Next time I'm going to have to try the saliva trick. "Granny's Spot Remover" works. I have found it at LQS, Hancock and Joanns. I also have had good luck with the Carbona stain removers that you can find in the grocery store. Little yellow bottles and they have several types for different stains. I use those as a treatment on the blood before washing. I've never tried it to spot clean.

if the blood stains aren't too old, hydrogen peroxide will usually take out them out.

even if the stains don't completely come out, the peroxide will reducet the color to a light goldish yellow that doesn't show up to bad.

I use either a Tide-to-Go stain remover pen or an Oxy-Clean travel mini spray to remove small blood stains. Both work very well and are safer on fabric than peroxide or bleach.

I've had success with Hydrogen Peroxide. The quilt did have a white backing but it was colored on top. Didn't change the color on top at all. I just put a little on the spot and rubbed the fabric gently together. Then I took just a dab of cold water and soap and rubbed it gently. I used just a teeny bit of soap so it takes very little water to sponge it out and then just layed it out to dry. I've had a lot of success with this. I tried cold water on a spot before but it left an ugly ring where the water dissoved the blood and then spread out although, with washing in a washing machine it did, ultimately, come all out. I don't like to wash my quilt when completed if it's a gift. Good Luck
