This new attitude helped me cut into some fabulous rayon batiks and make some lovely blouses and jackets. And if I love a quilt fabric, then I know I will love having a tote or pillow or quilt more than I love having it in a storage tote.
So funny! You and I think alike!

Tartan reminds me of my grandmother who used her good china and silver and crystal at the least excuse. She always said she wasn't going to keep it for her husband's second wife to use!

As to the original creator of this thread ... I have the same problem, but it stems from being afraid to cut into a piece in case it ruins it for a more important project. Silly? Yes! Stack it and whack it, dear, and enjoy the fruits of your labors!

A question to think about......."Do you own the fabric.....or does the fabric own you?" C9P

I am slightly mystified by this as I didn't have this problem until recently. What is going on?.................
Morning Jem 65, how wonderful to have a sewing room w/all that beauty. It sounds like you are admiring it right now like you would a beautiful pic (which it IS), or a cherished memento. I agree w/a few others on here - go ahead & enjoy "looking" at it like that for awhile, then decorate the room w/pics of the beauty & go ahead & start using it (think about all the NEW BEAUTY ALL THAT FABRIC WILL MAKE).

Have a blessed day & may all your quilts be filled w/love.

It's an age old probelm of running out. Many of use were taught t save and use causiously so when we have we tend to not want to use it. Wierd but so true.

It's definitely the beauty in the fabric! I find I tend to read all the posts here, look at my fabric and then can't cut it to make anything :(

Nah, we aren't sick. We're just in love (with our stash). I'm the same way. I don't want to use some of that beautiful fabric. The best thing for me to do is buy kits this way the fabric is accounted for and I have to justify the $$ spent on the kit. Love does strange things to us and our stash.

Tartan, I totally agree with you what's the sense of just looking it and saying "maybe some day I'll put you in a special quilt" Today is that special day and unless we realize that we may miss the boat entirely and never see that beautiful fabric in anything we make.

As for our friends with the problem of not wanting to cut into fabric now that they're sewing rooms are in order. I don't think this is a permanent problem. I feel that right now you want to spend time in your beautiful clean and organized sewing rooms. you tend to be afraid that if you cut into fabric and make a mess out of your sewing rooms again, you will never see it clean again. You have come from one extreme to another and you're afraid it will be a mess again forever. All you need to do is decide how you want your sewing area to look. Once you make that decision you'll be able to sew, cut into fabric and function in whatever style your've decided to exist, in your sewing room...
