Hugs to you. I have made several t-shirt quilts. I cut the sleeves off and sides, and back, then use a stablizer. Then you cut the size block you want to make. Good luck with it.

So sorry for your loss. Last year I saw a really neat t-shirt quilt. There were no squares with sashing. The various logos were cut out with minimal t-shirt fabric around them, including small items from the fronts, etc. Then she used various color coordinated prints between the logo pieces. Between stabilizer backing the t-shirt pcs. & the regular fabric it makes a much more stable quilt than those with the big t-shirt squares.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my son on May 15, 2005. he was killed in a MVA on the job, three months before his son was born. I have not yet made a t-shirt quilt yet but I intend to. A good friend lost her son March 18, 2010. He was killed when he was hit by a car after a night of partying for St. Patricks day. The dirver left the scene, but is now in jail. He was the same age as mine and had a striking resemblance. It hurt whenever I saw him as he worked in the same school I did. I asked her if she could get me some t-shirts and I would make her a quilt. She gave me two bags of shirts and I have two tops done. In the shirts were a pair of jeans and a pair of shorts he wore when he went to school in NC and worked as a painter. I was able to add the waistband and pcokets of both jeans and shorts into the quilts. It looks nice. I plan to post the pics when they are completed. The fronts don't need to be the same size. Mine are various sizes.
