I learned in a high school Adult Education class. I really did not think I would be interested in learning quilting but there was not another class that I was interested in. I went to sign up on the last nite of sign up figuring that the class would probably be full but wouldn't you know it, there was one slot left. That was in 1979 and hardly a day has gone by since that I haven't done something quilty.

Back in 2001, I took an adult education class at our high school for 8 weeks. I had always wanted to learn, already knew how to sew clothes, crafts, etc, but didn't want to tackle quilting on my own. I'm sooooooo happy I did. Am still best friends with a group from the class as well as the teacher. We meet every week for our SNB (stitch n bitch), with the second Tuesday of each month used to make donation quilts.

I am still learning and will probably continue to do so. I learned to sew garmets in high school and at the same time I was bit by the quilting bug. I use different techniques ie: hand quilting, paper piecing, hand tied, depending on my mood and how I feel about the project. I am never bored because no two projects are alike and I keep trying new things.

My mother. I would sit and watch her all our lives. Always had a quilt in the hanging frames...

I took classes at my LQS & watched quilt shows on TV. That was just a few years ago and TV quilt shows seemed to have disappeared. Now its this board and YouTube that provide great tips and techniques.

I have just started this great adventure of "Quilting". I have always sewed and have just retired and so I started quilting. Love it - have always loved completing any kind of puzzles and consider creating a quilt a "giant" puzzle. I have bought one Singer 66-16 ($25 at an estate auction in the cabinet with all the sewing boxes including 40 spools of thread and 2 pairs of pinking shears plus lots more)and my grandmother left me her 66-6. I have just finished cleaning and repairing both with new rubber/belts and oiled/lubricated and they are "purring!!!!!" I am working on my 1st quilt and lovin' every minute of it even the ripping out. My mother is on the hunt for a Featherweight for me. Thank you for all your valuable information on "everything" about quilting.
