I made one of these and my cat uses it to sit on and watch me sew. It is real handy. Mine is right next to sewing machine so I don't have to keep jumping up.

That would be handy 'cept some days getting up to iron is my only exercise. Something to keep tucked away in the recesses of the mind though.

My grandson came over one day when I was complaining about always having to get up to iron when make blocks. He took an old lamp table base we weren't using, took a $5 mini/travel board from Big Lots and screwed it into the top of the lamp table base. It's the exact size I needed - perfectly level with my sewing surface. When the ironing board has 'had it', we just take it off and replace it with another one!

I made one as I do a lot of paper piecing and it stays right by my machine. Just a couple of layers of batting and I used a square of that silver ironing board cover stuff (can't think of the name) inserted into the top. Also great for appliqueing small pieces.
