The flower looks a lot like a hollyhock, but the leaves are wrong. The flower opens during the day from a deep red sepal. I planted the seeds which were thought to be something else....any ideas?

Nope. I don't recognize that at all!! But I bet it's pretty when all open. I like the colors in that plant.

Looks a member of the hibiscus family which in Jamaica, is known as sorrel. The colourng and shape of the leaves do look familiar. (The sepals are collected and brewed into a drink with same name)

I think that is where the seeds came from! A friend gave them to me thinking they were some kind og greens....can't remember the unusual name!
