Fox, thanks for sharing your pics! I just love the little yak!! Are those white feet and a star? I didn't know that yaks had "bling"!

I'm still lurking on this one, but just today went digging and found some really cute cows. I might be able to whip up a couple of sets afterall....I'll let ya' know..

I've seen them in the fields up there! ...and at the Fryeburg Fair! They are black with a streak of white only around their middles!
Just like big oreo cookies!
Go for it! They would be fun in a "different" color!

The belties are a fabulous idea. If we ever get another breed of cattle, that's what I want....they also come in dunn and red, not just black.

Yup, our little yak has bling, LOL! It's coloring is called Imperial trim. I like it's two back socks.

I'm actually lurking on this one as well, and will see if I have time.

Fox, thanks for the info...I had NO idea! They are cute little back feet. How many of yaks do you have? Do you raise and breed them? Show them? Just for fun??? I'm a little bit curious..are they hard animals to deal with...like much different from handling cattle?

Sandpat, I have two pair and a bull. I've had them for a year, and at this point we're just breeding. Showing is a possibility if the future. The are show quality animals. One won 2nd place as a heifer at the Nat'l Western stock show Jan. 2010. They are much like cattle to deal with. We are used to angus (no horns) so having animals with horns, who know they have them, is a bit unsettling. However, they are not mean spirited, and like cattle can be socialized from a young age and be treated much like milk cows and oxen are. They are the basis for society in the himalayas...milk, meat and wool; ride, pack, and pull. Ours are not that well socialized and not halter trained, but will come up to me and eat from my hand--well, not now that they have babies. They are VERY protective mamas and I don't want to get gored. I have babies of my own :!: They are really interesting animals and fun to have.
