Lots of people go for the brightest of colors so don't feel bad about yours. I would choose a print for sashing-maybe a white background with all the brights in it. If it's going to be for a child, what about a circus print? They are also vivid and joyful. Or a bright floral?

The colors opposite (or complementary) to yellow are purple and the blue. Check out the color wheel and explanation below. I would add some prints, tone on tone etc for some variation. Or, you can always make larger (16 to 18" blocks - simple: Ohio Star) and use what you have made as the centers of these new blocks.
