I started to quilt in my late 50's and have made tons of quilts in the short 7 years of quilting, and improved with each one. You are off to a wonderful start with these beautiful quilts.

I guess I shouldn't speak for my quilter; I had that impressions as she is still paying for her long-arm and said how she had practiced and practiced.

I was 63 when I started. I have enjoyed it so much and isn't that what it is all about? Take classes on patterns that interest you. You will learn a lot and meet some great people. Make friends with those at your LQS. They are knowledgable and very helpful as well as encouraging.
I made the Stack & Whack quilt shown in my avatar this past winter for my DD and SIL's Christmas gift. I never thought I could do something like that.

Rose, your quilts are fabulous! I, too, just finished my first quilting projects at the age of 60. My mom was a wonderful quilter, but sadly I didn't learn from her. She passed away 2 years ago. My son is getting married in the fall, and I knew she would have quilted something for the couple, so I made a Lucky Stars wall hanging for them. Now I am obsessed and made a baby quilt for a friend's daughter, a beach tote for me, and have placemats in progress. I have bookmarked enough ideas from this forum to last me until eyes and hands give out. I think that coming to the craft later in life has been a joy for me. My sense of family ties is stronger now, and as a retired teacher, this has been a creative outlet for me that I have been missing. Quilt on, Girlfriend!
