No one knows whats ahead, but girl, you do what makes YOU happy, no matter what!! Let us know how you are doing. We sure do care.

HI I am going to be 77 this year and I to wonder what I will do with all the quilts I have made. I am sure when I am gone the children and grandchildren will want them. Right now they are in to a more modern mode. I feel some quilters are like poets " more appreciated when we are gone" LOL
I have decided to just keep on quilting to keep my mind going and spend my time doing something I enjoy. I am now trying to use up my fabric by making a scrappy quilt.I am more of a project shopper than a stash builder, always have been. Every time I come on this board I see something I want to make or try , It makes you feel like you will have to live forever.
I also just like to be here it keeps me motivated and I look forward just coming on to read and check things out. Kind of like being with a group of friends that have a mutual interest.
Whew I am talkative this early in the morning.

Goodness me Marcy - 72 years young and you are pretending to be 172!! I agree with the comments that you could have another 20 to 25 years or more of quilting ahead of you!! Not to mention how much experience you have to pass on to others. Go buy some fabric and get cracking - we all want to see your next quilt posted here!
Lots of love from someone who is 62.

If quilting isn't doing "it" for you look for something that will. My MIL will be 94 this year and she went thru a spell like your talking about. She did a few other things and then decided what if she had projects not finished or fabric still in the drawer. Those things will be a gift for someone else if she doesnt finish them or use them. She just finished hand quilting a queen size quilt. Her quilts are 100 % hand made. It bothers her back to sit at a machine. You should do what makes u happy not what makes anyone else happy. Have a wonderful day. Do something fun.

Would the upper-age group quilters share their thoughts on this problem I am having.

I neither have the time or energy to think like that. I prefer to live for today.

    Marcy,

Sounds like you need a friend to quilt with. If you are anywhere in Michigan near me, I would be happy to become your quilting buddy.
I feel that quilting is a solidarity craft and that it is important for us to keep our social contacts...just to keep our sanity and to know that we are not alone. Can you join a quilt guild?

I'm 73 and know I am a beginning quilter. I buy fabric for both current and future projects. I also buy books because I am an avid reader, and painting supplies because I'm learning to paint and plan to do an art quilt to combine the two interests. What's the alternative? To sit idle and let life just pass by? That doesn't sound interesting to me. If you enjoy quilting, just keep on doing it.

I'm 67 and some days feel teh same way - but we must not look at it negatively - we have so much yet to give, and we may outlive many - I will not quit - and please don't anyone else quit - let's see how many of us can die with our quilts in the finishing process on our laps as we do what we enjoy doing most... quilting!!! Don't give up!!!

Life is short so let's make the most of it while we are here; buy enough fabric for the quilt you are working on and then do it over again - if it makes you feel better. I pick up fabric at thrift shops and garage sales, so Im not spending overly much and don't have to feel too guilty about spending too much, and yet I have beautiful quilts from these sources...
