I like the strippy quilt idea also. That's a good one for random lengths and widths.

Bonnie Hunter's website has some very nice scrappy string quilts that should be fairly easy.

Here are a couple of the charity (although I like comfort better) quilts our guild members made. The strips can be random

Depending on your strips, they can be horizonal or vertical

Another idea

Just do a scrappy strip quilt. Cut the 4" strips into 2" and then just sew the strips, til you get the length you want and when you have enough strips widthwise, join them and you have a quilt. Just like the one Sewensewer2 shows. I make full size quilts for our craft sale and they both sold fast.

How about a tube quilt? Missouri Star Quilt Company has a great YouTube video of how to make these.

Don't research log cabin or rail fence out on the internet because you will mostly get just pictures. Search it here. If you put in log cabin in the search here, you will get a list. On the left side of that list it tells you what section that particular post is in. If you see one under tutorials - there you go.

I think there's a tutorial section here too. Go straight there and find tutorials on what you want to make. You can also peruse magazines and find something that will suit the fabric you have.

You can also search for scrappy quilts

Again, thank you everyone I have started off this morning with a determination to make this work, one way or another. I am just not sure which way yet. :) Look for a picture of my quilt top in about two weeks....:)
