My hobbies are my therapy. I also don't understand people that don't have some type of hobby!

[quote=deedee75]While some people collect trinkets and stamps, I collect hobbies!

i hear you!! i hope to go to my grave with just one more project to do, one more book to read, and one more quilt to make. i never want to lose my need to find out something else, learn another skill, or at least have a good time trying. my dad passed when he was 90, and he was still reading new books, doing crossword puzzles, and doing projects in his shop. i want to be like him when i grow up...

I never could understand how so many people don't have hobbies. No one I know that has a hobby. If I ain't busy being constructive I'd go crazy. I come from a long line of hyper-active people, constantly doing [unless I'm here]

I also use quilting and hobbies as an escape. My two children are now 20 and 17 so they have lives and jobs. When hubby is on night shift it is me and my fabric. Not having any friends that quilt and having moved recently it is comfort to have these things. I also enjoy scrapbooking both paper and digital, and can't do that unless photography is in the pic so there you go LOL

Why do people, with no hobbies of their own, want to take up a couple of hours a day talking on the phone about themselves and their problems? Do they think people are really interested in that??? Sorry, finally learned my solution is not to answer the phone ----- just keep sewing.

For years I had no one to share my quilting passion with. Now that I am retired I have found several quilting buddies. We have a great time going on shop hops and to Sewing and Quilting Expo's in Oregon and Washington. Hope you find a friend soon. I highly recommend it!!!
