I thought it took several years for it to bloom. I've never tried to grow one, but I love them just the same!

I have 5 Clematis vines, four pink and one dark purple, but none of them are as pretty as yours. However, they are doing better this year. May be all the rain we have had, plus I put scrap batting around the base of them and covered it with mulch early this spring.

Yes, we love our clematis as well; have 3 beds of them now. One is at the East door, one into the garden and one on the South side. Here is the ones on the East door:

One more question??

I just looked at mine closely. Some of the vines look dead but there are new leaves on them. Do yours do that??

I'm going to leave it for now as it's blooming and put some mulch around it.

Thanks
Did you cut it back last fall? I didn't, so mine will look like this but it will be fine. Mine is growing, but it is way too early for it to bloom.
Sadiemae, I didn't cut it back last fall. He bought it for me for Mother's Day and it bloomed but being the first year to grow I left it as it was over the winter. I'll prune it this fall, thanks!! :)
QuiltingNinaSue- GORGEOUS!!

it means you need to mulch or put a few flat rocks on it's "feet" ..so the roots stay cool.

i have all mine on the northside of my house/fence. it gets the most sun. i have transplanted a few ..thier roots run deep..so it may die if you don't get most of the roots..
they should be cheaper now..to buy..or wait till later in the year

I had to leave mine in CO and it was just starting to really grow and produce nice flowers after being in the ground for three years. Waaaaaah!

I have that same color! My sis bought it for my birthday last year. It's really small still, but had nearly a dozen blooms on it until our storm took all the petals off.

I'm thinking of building an arbor over my front walk so I have an excuse to plant more.
