I have to make a lap quilt for a 290 lb man. Found these in my stash and need some ideas. The panel is 45" x 35 1/2", 3 yds of blue and 2 yd of ocean fabric. I am not using batting. I want to use a flannel backing.

I would probably do a border of the dark blue then the ocean fabric. If you have any of the purple color of fabric that would look good too. Look forward to seeing it finished.

What a great idea, you knew that panel would come in handy some day.

Don't have any purple. How wide can a boder be? Want to add a 9" hand embroidery block on one of the corners.

Have you seen the ones made to look like windows.
You cut the panel apart about 1/4 on each side and top & bottom, and then sew back together with sashing in the attic windows technique.

This is a tutorial posted here.

Got the green (Hobby Lobby) and the purple (Hancock)today. What order should I use and what width for the border.
