My thinking at this moment is that this is an error in the book.
The quilt looks like the Alice Brooks/Wheeler patterns as they were very complex. They were advertised in womens magazines and newspapers. It would make sense then that it would be called Alice's Favorite if it was an Alice Brooks pattern but not that it was published by Mrs. Danner. The Ragged Robin thing doesnt make sense either. That one is one of Mrs. Danners patterns, but does not resemble this pattern.. another mistake in the book, I am thinking.

I have a huge collection of clippings from the newpaper of Books/Wheeler patterns. Since you had to buy the patterns, many people clipped the pictures and drafted the patterns themselves.

Since the Brooks/Wheeler patterns were so complex, there are not an abundance of examples of actual quilts made from them. I buy them up when I find them.

Great quilt top you have..take care of it.
I have researched and found originals of both of these patterns and I stand corrected. The Brackman book is indeed correct. The pattern called Alice's Favorite is in Mrs. Danner's second catalog dated 1934. It is named after after her secretary, who was named Alice and having no name for the quilt decided it was too pretty to have no name and so, named it after Alice.
The pattern called Ragged Robin was published in the newspaper by Alice Brooks. There is no date on this one so dont know which one came first.

The pattern of the quilt is Ragged Robin. Thank you to everyone for your help. Now I will search for vintage fabric to finish it.

It's been fun to meet you, Connie Lou :)

Searching for a pattern name and history is something I find interesting. It took me about four years before I discovered the pattern for a quilt as you go pattern my paternal grandmother made in the 1940's.

And sew it goes!

I love the history of the past-from furniture to genealogy to quilting etc. I never knew how to sew until about 10 years ago. My mother and sister have taught me so much. It is my creative outlet that gives me balance in a sometimes very harsh world. It adds beauty to many people.
