I like them both! Some borders will add some interest, if you decide to go without sashing!

What if you try just using 5 blocks and do three rows..
first and third row two blocks on point and the middle row one block on point..

Just MHO...

I, too, like on point. But, I think I might take the one block from the 2nd row and put it under the bottom row, so, you would have 2-1-2-1 and balance(JMHO)

I like 1, but have you tried mixing the orientation on point? As in the top row upside down to what you have now? I have oriental friends who introduced me to fans last very hot weekend, and they flip those things all sorts of ways!
