In upstate NY, we collected the Green Stamps and the Plaid Stamps from another store. It always seemed like it took forever just to complete a whole book. It was fun imaging what we would get. If I remember correctly, I think they offered trips, too.

OH MY do I remember them...also Yellow and Plaid stamps. The grocery stores, gas stations and even some smaller department type stores gave them. There were even coupons in the paper to get extra/double/ etc with certain purchases or on your whole order. We saved them, traded them and drooled over the catalogs lol. I got things for my babies, my house, and sometimes even presents. It was so much fun. My oldest daughter has the china and crystal I got with green stamps and I still have a few items in my house that I purchased with them. FUN TIMES and memories!

My Goodness! Haven't thought about them for a long time! Filling the books and counting how many there were then planning the shopping trip. Mom got lots of items we couldn't afford otherwise. She was like a kid in the candy store on those days, but always wound up with something very practical. One year it's how she did Christmas shopping for our family.

I have a sheet of them sitting in front of me. They were found when we clear out my MIL house. Also have some large ones worth 10 stamps and a sheet of golden color of TV Top Value.
they have just been sitting on my computer desk. Oh the memories.

Yes, those and Blue Chip. Spent many a day licking those things for my mom.

Oh, the memories this brings. I traveled five days a week in my job and used a rental car every day so I had boxes and boxes of the beloved S&H green stamps. Two things I remember "buying" with my stash were a set of dishes and a vacuum. Whooee!! Good stuff.

Not only do I remember licking them and sticking them in the books. But I vividly remember "looking" at the items you could get with them. After we married, my grandmother gaves us Top Value stamps and we got a fertilizer spreader for our first home.

I think RINSO and OXYDOL and some of the others used to put dish towels and hand towels in their soap flakes and detergent boxes.

You will not believe this. I, along with my husband and babygirl were in the TV commercial for Green Stamps, 41 years ago this month! Boy time flies.
The commercial aired on all three networks and local television in Dallas/Fort Worth.
This was a major flashback.
Thanks
