Then, I took a whole day off work and spent time working at the site with him- now I've got quite the crush!

He came to my office today to bring the bill. He ended up doing TONS more work than we had originally discussed for WAY less money. I negiotiated at least making him some lasagna and a cherry pie (he's a bachelor and mentioned believing in 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach'!) but I would also like to make him a quilt.

My question is... do any of you have a suggestion for a pattern? I thought about doing something neat and classic like a Carpenter's Wheel, but I also love to paper-piece and considered doing blocks with tools. (Is that too silly?) I just don't know and would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!
I will bet that he will like any geometric in shades of browns or blues. The Carpenters Wheel is a very good choice! Go for it!

Wow, friends! I've been gone over the weekend and you've really surprised me! But I SO need the support, so I appreciate the comments. Now, let's see- he's a customer in my office, so he comes in to pay bills and do updates on his account. So, how much I see him varies. He does seem interested (I think?) and he told me his mother quilts- I don't know her. He did the work just last week and while we were talking he mentioned "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" and we kept bringing up food topics. When I argued the bill on Friday, I told him I at least owed him a pie or something, then I said oh, how about lasagna? And he readily agreed. So I gave him a check and told him we weren't done talking about this. I'm not sure how we're going to work the food deal all out yet, but I'll let you know! (Right now, I'm packing up my current household to move to the new house with the quilting shed.)

I thought maybe just a little throw quilt, manly colors like blues and browns, in a simple pattern. Nothing too time-consuming like a wedding ring or anything! (LOL!)

A throw is a great idea. I am sure he will appreciate anything that you make for him but especially a nice meal. Good luck!

Have you thought of maybe combing the 2 patterns. Make the large CW and maybe design a special border and quilt tools in there. He will appreciate it I am sure. Who knows, might ask you to have dinner and get to know him better.

Are You single? Then go for it. If not the food should suffice
