What to tell your hubby when you want to buy a new sewing machine

Seems we're all on the same page, in one form or another. When we moved from PA to WY, I left furniture back home to bring all my fabric. When we got settled in here, I started to bring home fabric from the LQS. After each trip, the hubby asked why I was bringing home more and still had what I brought along when we moved. After putting up with the questioning for several months, I finally said..."I work outside the home. Quilting is my therapy. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, and I don't run around with other men, but I sure could start." Never heard another word about bringing home more fabric. I've since bought several new machines, including a LA, and still no griping...a lot of eye-rolling, but never another word. Feel free to use my quote...it worked for me, it probably would work for you!

Romanojg & echobluff.....................
These are very good points and I WILL use them if he gets stinky about the embroidery machine I want for Christmas (and will probably get for myself)!
I can't understand why anyone would just light a match to a 10 dollar bill each day.......................I'm not even sure what a pack of nicotine costs these days.

thanks goodness my DH is the one who says "Is it time for an upgrade on your machine." I however am the hold out. I am a tightwade when it comes to money. BUT he smokes and they are not cheap. So what he spends on smokes I spend on quilting stuff. Its a trade off. PS, I have two emb machines and a smaller one to take to class.

My husband has all the toys. Every season, sport and entertainment. I sew and do some woodworking. He feels guilty and is always telling me to "buy it" Only problem, there is no money or space left. But I do have most of what I had planned to aquire.

My husband is supportive of me having good, quality machines to work with. He is into old cars so every once in a while that turns into bargaining power for me as he knows how much he spends on his hobby!
