Even though I am not usually into the modern look, I really like the first layout with the modern feel. I also think it would look fantastic with a really scrappy layout. Hmmm... this post was absolutely no help at all, was it! Please let us know what you decide.

Since you asked... I love scrappy and mixed up. Neither one of your photos are mixed up enough for me! Maybe try placing all the blocks randomly. Cool blocks BTW!

I picked up some batik FQ's on sale and came up with squares that look like these...

I just don't know how I'd like to put them together. The straight "rows", or the "checkerboard" rows. Do they need (gasp) sashing? I've been kicking around doing some needlework on the tops, in contrasting color (like blue on the browns, gold on the blue) just haven't decided how yet.

I've a MILLION projects in mind (thanks for all the inspiration Q.B.!) and I'm trying to focus my little mind on finishing THIS one first. Sigh. (I've already got some antique handkerchiefs soaking downstairs though...heh)

I know the colors are a bit odd on this, I was just going for "bright" and lots of movement. All civil criticism is welcome!
How about making a few prints of these on your copier,
and cutting those prints diagonally and putting them together into windmills? ....or some other interesting block, like cutting them into fours. and see how you like it! Perhaps experimenting with changing the shape on paper first, will give you some new ideas?
I'm a nidnick - just fold some of them diagonally, or into fours, to try it.... J

I agree with JanetM I too would mix them up. I think you have a great eye for color. Please keep posting, it is really nice to see the progress. :):):)

Hi, and welcome from Louisiana. I think I would mix up the blocks and use some sashing. It is very pretty and colorful. Good luck, and let us see it when its finished.

Both are very pretty. I think I like the 2nd one best. The glory in all of this is you do what you want as you are the artist. Enjoy.
