I've just tried using Bottom Line on top for some stitch in the ditch, because it was the only spool I had in the colour I wanted. It worked really well: because it's so fine, it doesn't show.

I too, always use Bottom Line in the bobbin. The stitch quality is sooo much better.

BL thread from superior is also great for hand aplique, the stitches are almost invisable, the thread is so fine you might have trouble keeping your needle threaded but, double about a four inches and run it through the eye of the needle and run the needle through the loop, try it ,it does make a difference.

I used bottom line in my bobbin for quilting with great results. Then I got my Brother 1500 serviced. Since then, I can't get tension right with bottom line thread. Any ideas?

just remember the thinner the thread, the weaker the thread!

Bottom line is not the only one you can use, Aurifil also had a bobbin weight, as does YLI soft touch...and Masterpiece! LOVE them all...they are great for paper piecing, but since you tinier stitches when PPing, you don't mind the thread being thinner...when piecing though, one must remember, the higher the the number the less the weight...the less weight means it is easier to break!

so for those who use the BL in the bobbin are you NOT using a cotton thread on top either???

or do you use mix, cotton on top and poly on the bottom?

My mom taught me to sew (many years ago when thread came on wooden spools). She liked the 60wt. thread better than 50wt. That is all I used for years. In fact the only question I missed on my Home Ec. final one year was "What is the common weight for sewing thread?" Of course, I put 60. LOL

I checked amazon canada and it was 9.19 so went to amazon.com to order. Unfortunately in small print it say plus $3.44 shipping
