I am from the great Pacific Northwest!!! I live in Seattle, Washington.
It is Spring here, so it has been pretty rainy. You know, the Seattle rain season begins January 1st and ends December 31st!! However, it was nice over the weekend so I went and helped my mom plant her garden.
She dug up a bunch of her gladiola's (spelling??) and sent them home with me, so I have those planted and can't wait for them to bloom (most likely a couple months from now). I also planted some wave petunias, and violas. I also got a tomato plant going, I hope I get some to eat some this year, last year the squirrels ate them :twisted: I plan to get a blueberry bush next weekend. I am a happy camper!!
Money is tight right now because of vet bills, so I wasn't going to do flowers. I bought my mom a hummingbird feeder, and the wave petunias for mothers day, that is what she wanted. But I got her too many petunias. So she had six left over, so she sent them home for me to use, and sent the glady bulbs, and some violas from her own yard. The gladys keep multiplying and now she a billion of them taking over her yard, so she keeps digging them up and moving them and giving them away. So now I will have plants!!! Isn't my mommy the best!!!!

Just caught back up with this thread, it is so interesting to read about the different climates in various parts of the world and what is growing too.
Here in Southern Spain, we are at the height of summer flowering, roses are in full bloom and the Oleanders are just opening, all the annuals are in full flush, Pelargoniums (Geraniums) Gazanias, Felicias, Bourganvillas, lots of lovely colour. Our temperature is rising daily and is reaching high 70's at the moment.
As far as growing plants we reverse our seasons, most plants start to grow in autumn, having been dormant through the hottest summer months. Seeds that I had sown the first spring I was here hardly grew through the summer even with constant TLC and lots of water...then suddenly in the autumn they took off, so now any cuttings or new planting is left until late September/October to ensure a better chance of survival. :D
It's very different from the UK where everything starts early spring and grows better in the summer and autumn, and becoming dormant during winter.

Yes, I read all the fuss.. tee hee!! Something else we have in common, I used to spout off all the Latin names but since approaching errr hemmm 'that' time of my life, my memory fails me on the simplest of names...I am even known to mix up body parts :roll:

Hi, I'm in Auckland, New Zealand, and it is autumn (Fall), almost winter. Temp about 16 to 18 celsius. Has been raining for days. Wish I was on my way to UK, but had to postpone my trip to help my son keep his home in the IHC. Should be sorted by end of month. Chrissa

I am in New Zealand also, half an hours drive from Auckland.... feels like winter today so we have a lovely fire going.... very cold... our autumn has passed us by very quickly almost as if we haven't had it... and I usually look forward to the autumn in May.... maybe next year it will be better....
