Best thing that I feel that has inproved is stick pins. The new ones have the yellow balls on them. The old ones just had a small head and my fingers were so sore pinning with them and some times ended up bleeding from pushing those pins into the fabric.

My Janome 6600, rotary cutters, quilting friends, long arm machine, batiks, lots of cool rulers, not necessarily in that order. Love gadgets, and books, fondeling fabric (well been doing that when first introduced to sewing machine 52 years ago)

Yes. There was a rather expensive one available, but I bought the inexpensive one. It came with 500 tacks. (the refills are $5). It did jam up a few times, but it was nothing that wasn't easily fixed and still better than safety pinning. This one is $40 but the one I got was identical for $26 @ Joann and the 50% coupon made it $13.

They sell plastic grids to lay your quilt on to tack it, but I used a cheap, pleated furnace filter like this:

It was only 1" deep though.

My Featherweight and SnipIT scissors and my rotary cutter and rulers and my quilter and my AccuQuilt Go... been sitting here trying to decide which one is my fav. Each is not as valuable without the others. Oh I must add my stash to the list... love it! And I am so going to checkout blades at Harbor Freight - that got my attention in a hurry.

Two things, a magnetic seam guide I got for less than $4 on ebay- I use it on my 301 and featherweight. It sticks like glue. Second, the June Tailor Shape cutter mat. I love them both,

This board, and the helpful people who post questions, no matter how trivial, also the experienced people who answer without condescending comments about how dumb I must be!

I paid bif $ for a Gingher seam ripper which I really like. The blade is for life! Now if I can only find it! I really think it slipped off my table into the trash. I have torn my sewing room apart formweeks and no can find. So back to my 2nd favorite seam ripper - the Clover.
